The BOUM cruise occurred in June-July 2008 in the Mediterranean Sea on board R/V l’Atalante. This program was dedicated to study the longitudinal gradient of oligotrophy from West to East and its impact on primary production and on the biological pump. Samples were collected from both Niskin bottles and phytonets, fixed with lugol and observed in light microscopy.
